information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information
Account Data: Email address and password (via Firebase Authentication) when you create an account.
Profile Data: Travel preferences, checklist items, expense logs, and trip details you create within the app.
Automatically Collected Information
Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and analytics.
Biometric Data: If you opt in, we use your device's biometric authentication (fingerprint / facial recognition) solely for local app unlock. No biometric data is transmitted to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide, maintain, and improve the app's features (checklists, weather, expenses, trip sharing).
To authenticate your account and enable trip collaboration with other users.
To send optional push notifications for packing reminders (you can disable these in Settings).
To display weather information based on your trip destination.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored locally on your device using SQLite (iOS/Android) or
AsyncStorage (web). When you enable trip sharing, data is synced to
Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud) under the project
travelbuddy-54485. We implement industry-standard security
measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and Firebase's built-in
security rules to protect your data.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
5. Data Sharing
When you use the trip sharing feature, your trip data (destination, dates,
checklist items, expense logs) is shared with other collaborators you
explicitly invite via a share code. You control who has access.
6. Your Rights
Access: You can view all your data within the app.
Correction: You can edit or update your trip data at any time.
Deletion: You can delete trips from within the app. To delete your entire account, contact us at the email below.
Opt-out: You can disable notifications and biometric unlock in Settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Travel Buddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be
posted on this page with an updated effective date.
