This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Tracker (the "App", "we", "us")
collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the App. By creating an
account and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: Smart Tracker stores the bills and finances you enter so
they're available across your devices and survive reinstalling the App. We do not sell your
data, we do not use it for advertising, and you can permanently delete your account and all of
its data from inside the App at any time.
1. Information We Collect
Account information (you provide it)
When you create an account, we collect:
Email address
Password (handled and stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plain‑text password)
First and last name
Date of birth
Phone number (optional)
Country / region
Financial & usage data (you create it in the App)
Bills, subscriptions and expenses you add — including name, amount, category, due date, and recurrence
Payment status (which items you have marked paid, and when)
Savings goals ("jars") and amounts you set aside
App preferences such as currency, budget goal, theme, and text size
Device & technical data
Push notification token — a device identifier issued by the notification service, used to send you bill reminders and service messages
Basic technical information necessary to operate the App (e.g. timestamps for synchronizing your data)
Face ID / Touch ID / biometrics: If you enable the in‑app lock, biometric
authentication is performed entirely by your device's operating system. We never receive,
see, or store your biometric data.
2. How We Use Your Information
To create and secure your account and sign you in
To store your bills, finances, and preferences and synchronize them across your devices
To back up your data so it is restored when you reinstall the App or switch devices
To send bill reminders and budget alerts you have enabled
To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App
To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third‑party advertising or profiling.
3. How Your Data Is Stored & Protected
Your data is stored in two places:
On your device — in the App's local database, so the App works offline.
In the cloud — using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) so your data is backed up and synced.
Access to your cloud data is restricted by security rules so that each account can only read
and write its own data. Data is encrypted in transit. While we take reasonable measures to
protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
4. Third‑Party Services
We rely on the following service providers, who process data on our behalf:
Provider
Purpose
Data involved
Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore)
Account sign‑in and secure cloud storage / sync of your data
Account info, financial data, preferences
Expo push notification service
Delivering bill reminders and notifications to your device
Push notification token
These providers process data under their own privacy policies and data‑protection terms.
Your data may be stored and processed on servers located outside your country of residence.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account,
your account record and associated data (expenses, payment history, savings goals) are removed
from our cloud database, and local data is erased from your device. Some information may persist
for a limited period in routine backups or where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Access & correction: You can view and edit your data directly in the App.
Export: You can export your expense data to a CSV file from the App's Data screen.
Account deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This action is irreversible.
Notifications: You can turn reminders off in the App, or in your device settings.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional
rights such as the right to access, port, restrict, or object to certain processing, and the
right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us
using the details below.
7. Children's Privacy
Smart Tracker is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a
child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last
updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated through the App. Your continued
use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
